Woodland Pollinators
Primary tabs
Thinking of pollinator habitat often conjures images of sunny fields full of native wildflowers. While this IS excellent habitat for many pollinators, so too is a diverse, sun-speckled woodland. Woodlands provide pollinators with nectar, pollen, shelter, and nesting sites, making them valuable - if not well-known - pollinator habitat.
In this day-long workshop, we will explore the woodlands around the OSU Mansfield campus for woodland pollinators and habitat features. The class will begin indoors with sessions on bees, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds, and forest management. After lunch, we will head outside, so bring comfortable walking shoes and be ready for a stroll through the woods.
