    Join us at the Ohio State University - Mansfield campus to learn how to diagnose tree issues!  How many times have you looked at a tree and wondered what that odd growth was or why the leaves were not the right color?  Do you then ask yourself - should I worry about it?  You are not alone! Spend the day with a variety of Ohio State University Extension specialists working on diagnosing some common (and maybe not so common) tree problems.  What needs immediate attention and what is just cosmetic and won’t compromise the health of the tree?

    Join us for this hands on workshop designed to help you work with a dichotomous key in indentifying trees in the winter months.  This is an advanced class, so some knowledge of tree identfication is required.

    Join us at the University of Akron Medina County University Center for this evening session on the process of selling timber.  Many landowners enter into the process of selling trees out of their woodlands without understanding all the steps in the process.  We will discuss how to approach the sale, and help landowners to better understand what the current Ohio timber market is doing.

    2013 Why Trees Matter Forum Join us for the 2013 Why Trees Matter Forum.  This year the forum will feature an update on Secrest Arboretum, the latest in i-Tree Ecological, Social and Health Audits and an update on OSU's bid for Tree Campus status on main campus and several of the regional ones as well.

    Ohio’s grasslands, historically and present day, are important habitat for a number of wildlife species. In this all-day workshop, we will discuss this impor-tance, and how best to manage grasslands for wildlife—from bobwhite quail and pheasants to songbirds and pollinators. We will cover management tools from mowing to burning to disking to herbi-cide treatment, and discuss the establishment of grasslands and the best spe-cies mixes to use.

    Mast? What is that word?  What good is it to wildlife?  Mast is essentially the nuts, berries, and seeds of trees that serve as a very important food source to many species of forest wildlife. Join us Friday November 2nd for this day-long workshop focused on the identification and enhancement of the mast producing trees in your woodlot.  During our discussion of a variety of mast producing species and their different nutritionals values, we will focus on management strategies that will improve mast production and attract wildlife to your property.

    This day long program will highlight many of the fascinating research projects that are being fostered from the U.S. Forest Service lab located right here in Ohio.  These projects cover a wide range of topics and specializations.  Join us for the day to learn what is going on in our backyard! The workshop will be held in the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Building in Columbus, OH.   Pre-registration is required!
