Logs are piled up for lumber

Lumber From Your Woodlot

Lumber From Your Woodlot is a daylong workshop designed to get you personally acquainted with trees and the process that converts them to lumber. Along the way, you will learn about the many species of trees we have in Ohio, which ones produce useful products, the safe cutting of trees, the movement of logs, strategies for sawing, and the proper care and treatment of lumber. In addition, workshop participants will find out how to grow quality timber, properly measure those trees and lumber, and some basics of grading trees, logs and lumber. For the enthusiast, we will even throw in a brief discussion of wood identification.
